Why I Connect Mantra Bee Products to the Chakra System

At Mantra Bee, I’ve always believed that self-care is more than a routine; it’s a ritual. My yoga teaching has shown me that the way we care for ourselves physically is deeply connected to the way we feel emotionally and spiritually. This is why I chose to align my products with the chakra system, a centuries-old framework describing the body’s subtle energy centres.

The chakras are said to be wheels of energy (from the Sanskrit cakra meaning “wheel”) that run along the spine, each influencing our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. As Arthur Avalon writes in The Serpent Power, the chakras “are centres of vitality, where consciousness and matter meet.”

When I began crafting blends, I didn’t set out to create chakra-inspired products. But as my love for yoga grew, I realised the scents and formulations I was drawn to naturally mirrored the qualities of each chakra.

🌸 Crown Chakra & Ethereal Essence; Bee Pure

The Crown Chakra (Sahasrara), located at the top of the head, is associated with spiritual connection and higher awareness. It is the gateway to unity and transcendence. Anodea Judith in The Sevenfold Journey describes it as “the thousand-petaled lotus, opening to the vastness of consciousness.”

👁 Third Eye Chakra & Eye of Bergamot; Bee Trusting

The Third Eye Chakra (Ajna), between the brows, governs intuition, inner wisdom, and the ability to see beyond the surface. In My Pocket Chakra Healing, Heidi E. Spear explains: “When your third eye chakra is balanced, you have clarity of thought and trust in your inner guidance.”

I had long worked with lavender and rosemary, but once I added eucalyptus and bergamot, the blend took on new life. It became Eye of Bergamot, now one of our most beloved blend.

The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) is linked to communication, creativity, and authentic self-expression. When balanced, it helps us speak clearly, listen deeply, and live in alignment with our truth. Judith calls it “the gateway between inner truth and outer expression.”

When my family and I returned to Australia, I felt inspired to create new blends that reflected this chapter of life. Citrus Serenade was born as a joyful, expressive blend for the Throat Chakra; uplifting lemon myrtle, sweet orange, and calming chamomile, encouraging us to speak and sing our truth.

💚 Heart Chakra & Mint Heart; Bee Loving

The Heart Chakra (Anahata) is at the centre of the chakra system and governs love, compassion, and connection. Spear writes, “When your heart chakra is balanced, you feel peaceful, kind, and open to giving and receiving love.”

Interestingly, this was the very first blend I created; peppermint, lavender, rosemary, and sweet orange in a lip balm. At the time, I wasn’t thinking of chakras at all. But later I realised its refreshing, opening qualities matched perfectly with the energy of the Heart Chakra.

☀️ Solar Plexus Chakra & Solar Chai; Bee Confident

The Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura), located above the navel, represents willpower, confidence, and personal strength. Avalon describes it as “the city of jewels”; radiant, fiery, and full of vitality.

For this blend, I turned to scents that naturally boost courage and warmth: clove and cinnamon. As a lifelong lover of Masala tea, cardamom and ginger felt like the obvious companions. Together, they became Solar Chai; a fiery, spiced blend designed to energise and embolden.

🌊 Sacral Chakra & Ambrosial Embrace; Bee Sensual

The Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana), located just below the navel, is linked to creativity, sensuality, and flow. Judith writes that “the sacral chakra governs our ability to feel and experience pleasure, creativity, and connection with others.”

Ambrosial Embrace was actually the last blend I created; warm, slightly sweet, and nurturing. It reflects the sensual, flowing nature of this chakra, encouraging openness and inspiration.

Terra Firma was born when we returned to Australia. Its earthy blend of cedarwood, frankincense, rosemary, and sweet orange reflects grounding energy; a way to root into the here and now. When we feel grounded we can find peace and calm, even in a world of chaos.
